Injustice Watch Sues Cook County Sheriff’s Office for Jail Staff Shift Records

On June 21, 2024, we filed suit on behalf of Injustice Watch against the Cook County Sheriff’s Office for its refusal to release Cook County Jail staff shift records from a two-day period during which an inmate suspiciously died while in custody. Under Illinois law, jail officers assigned to cell block duty are required to keep a written shift record documenting any incidents that took place during the officer’s shift.
