Balch Sues Chicago Parks District for Unlawful Misuse of FOIA’s Undue Burden Provision

On October 10, 2024, we filed suit on behalf of Henry Balch against the Chicago Park District for refusing to release a log of emails to or from a single employee over a one-month time period, claiming the FOIA request was, in combination with 7 other FOIA requests, unduly burdensome. FOIA does not allow public bodies to combine FOIA requests so as to deny them for being too burdensome to process.
